Survival Guide to Working in Healthcare

A course of 6 free workshops offering practical skills to help you cope with the demands of working in a clinical environment. Open to all Healthcare students.

• Improve the way you communicate – how does your tone of voice, body language and sense of touch affect the people you work with?

• Find strategies to look after yourself and stay alert in the midst of a demanding schedule

• Understand how to negotiate relationships with colleagues and work as a team

• Address some of the challenges and fears of working with patients and colleagues with different cultural backgrounds.

Session 6: Practicing Change
Thursday 19th June
In this last workshop, theatre practitioner Sylvan Baker will unravel some of the issues that are important to the group. Through games and exercises influenced by the work of famous Brazilian Theatre director Augusto Boal, Sylvan will help you to explore the areas of your work that are most challenging and find out what are the obstacles preventing you from becoming an excellent, fulfilled and inspiring health professional?

Classes take place on Thursday evenings, 6-7.30pm at the
Room G1, Robin Brook Centre, St Bartholomews Hospital

2) Please include the following information in your email:
a) Your name; b) Your profession; c) Year of study (for example 3rd year medic or 2nd yr SLT)
3) Only those who secure a place will receive a reply. All replies will be sent out within one week.
